Why this makes our bookshelf better
Relationships take work. Consequently, key factors of doing the work are communication and understanding. I have worked with individual and couple clients who express frustration in feeling that their partner does not “really get” them. Moreover, couples are also often frustrated with their partner not acknowledging their efforts in showing their love and affection. This books is a great tool for couples to better understand how they and their partner receive and show love. By learning more about your own, as well as your partner’s “love language,” couples can work on strengthening their relationship through concrete and meaningful ways.
I have used this book as a tool with individuals and couples in therapy wanting to work on their relationships. Additionally, I have also recommended it to friends and family wanting to strengthen, rekindle, or reconnect with their partners. Dr. Chapman does a great job engaging the reader, making the concepts easy to understand, and connecting real life examples. The book is therefore very practical and an easy read. Consequently, I have received positive feedback from those who took the recommendation. This is a great tool for professionals and individuals alike!
